Argo Shield Round 1



The Argo Shield Round 1 was a football spectacle brimming with drama, upsets, and footballing masterclasses.


Paris Saint-Germain, showcasing their might, secured a comfortable 2-0 win against RC Lens with K. Lee finding the net twice.


Juventus managed to edge past Arsenal courtesy of a Rabiot strike, ensuring their place in the next round.


Manchester United displayed their superior class against ACF Fiorentina, with Hojlund and Rouault getting on the scoresheet.


Mike T's Chelsea had a face-off against Stade Rennais that eventually had to be settled by penalties. While Madueke's strike balanced out Kalimuendo's early goal for Rennais, the latter emerged victoriously in the penalty shoot-out.


Ajax, despite their traditional European pedigree, fell short against OGC Nice. The evergreen James Milner's goal was the decider.


Sir Simone's Bayer Leverkusen obliterated Feyenoord with a scintillating 5-0 victory. Pépé's brace stood out among the goals.


In a close-knitted encounter between Alex Mabilia's Sevilla and RB Leipzig, the teams had to settle it out on penalties after En-Nesyri and Baumgartner both scored for their respective teams. Leipzig advanced with a 6-5 win in the shoot-out.


Manchester City carved out a 1-0 win against Aston Villa, thanks to a S. Gómez strike.


Chris Enright's VfL Wolfsburg had a day to forget as they were steamrolled 4-0 by Internazionale, with Calvert-Lewin among the goal scorers.


Crystal Palace emerged as the surprise victors against Tottenham Hotspur, with Rutter's double proving vital.


Ash L's Brentford got the better of Real Sociedad in a 2-1 victory with Talisca and Mangala's goals outweighing Marín's strike.


Sporting CP and Bayern München locked horns in a match that concluded with Sporting winning 3-0 on penalties after both sides managed a goal apiece in regulation time.


SL Benfica narrowly edged past Galatasaray SK, managed by Chris Buchan, courtesy of Di María's strike.


Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, both heavyweights, faced off in a thrilling match that ended 1-1, with Madrid advancing 6-5 on penalties.


Atalanta BC, with Touré's late strike, surprised many with a win against Barcelona, managed by Salvatore Zerbo.


Lastly, AC Milan outclassed Villarreal CF 2-0 with goals from De Ketelaere and Wijnaldum.


Several teams, including West Ham United, SSC Napoli, Lille OSC, and Liverpool, were fortunate to receive byes, propelling them directly into the next round.


With Round 1 wrapped up, the anticipation for the next phase is at an all-time high. The Argo Shield promises even more excitement, drama, and top-class football action as teams inch closer to the coveted trophy.

 Division 2 Matchday 8 brought forward a slew of captivating matches and unpredictable scores, solidifying the division's allure as a premier hub for thrilling football. Leading the charge, Crystal Palace showcased their dominance by defeating PSV with a brace from the legendary C.Ronaldo, who netted in the 33rd and 73rd minutes.
