 Argo League Division 1: Match Day 3 Review

The third match day of the newly inaugurated Argo League Division 1 witnessed a string of breath-taking encounters, shocking outcomes, and moments of individual brilliance.


Arsenal 1-0 Paris Saint-Germain

Arsenal managed to secure a nail-biting victory against Paris Saint-Germain. A solitary goal from G. Rodrygo at the 10-minute mark was enough to see The Gunners through and claim all three points. The Parisians, seemingly, struggled to find their rhythm, leaving fans wondering if a change of strategy is on the horizon.


SSC Napoli 0-1 Barcelona

In another close encounter, Barcelona eked out a victory over SSC Napoli, with Salvatore Zerbo being the lone goal-scorer. The 37-minute strike from R. Lewandowski ensured Barcelona returned home with three points, leaving Napoli to ruminate over their missed chances.


Manchester United 2-2 Bayern München

Manchester United and Bayern München produced a high-octane draw, each team refusing to budge an inch. Early pressure from Bayern saw S. Gnabry netting a goal at the 7-minute mark, but H. Maguire equalized for United in the 29th minute. Late drama unfolded as C. Eriksen’s 86-minute goal was quickly countered by H. Aston Villa 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham managed to secure a victory over Aston Villa, with goals from J. Maddison and E. Royal. L. Bailey's effort for Aston Villa wasn’t enough to turn the tides, leaving Spurs’ fans in raptures and Aston Villa pondering their tactical approach.


Chelsea 1-2 Real Madrid

In another thrilling contest, Real Madrid managed to edge past Mike T Chelsea. The decisive goals came from D. Jota and V. Júnior. R. Sterling managed to pull one back for Chelsea, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point.


Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Newcastle United

Bojan H Borussia Dortmund carved out a narrow win against Newcastle United, with J. Brandt being the difference between the two sides. The Magpies will feel hard done by, having had their share of chances but failing to capitalize on them.


Manchester City 0-1 Internazionale

Internazionale pulled off a stunning late win against Manchester City. H. Çalhanoğlu’s 88th-minute strike was a heartbreaker for the Cityzens, leaving Pep Guardiola to rethink his strategies for the upcoming fixtures.


Liverpool 0-2 AC Milan

Giuseppe Trovato’s Liverpool faced a disappointing defeat at the hands of AC Milan. Goals from V. Muriqi and I. Bennacer ensured a comfortable win for Milan, leaving Liverpool to reflect on their lackluster performance.

The tables and charts below are some stats I have put together from capturing each match and associated stats from the first seven (7) weeks of Division matches.  Plan to drop some more stats for Division 2 and for Division 1 over the next day or two. Division 2 - Match Day 8

 Division 2 Matchday 8 brought forward a slew of captivating matches and unpredictable scores, solidifying the division's allure as a premier hub for thrilling football. Leading the charge, Crystal Palace showcased their dominance by defeating PSV with a brace from the legendary C.Ronaldo, who netted in the 33rd and 73rd minutes.
